Meet the designer
My interest in contemporary design was nurtured whilst working in the Netherlands in libraries and publishing. Unwinding from checking bibliographic data, editing academic manuscripts and demanding deadlines , I was drawn to 20th century Dutch architecture, art and interior design: their bold dynamic forms inspire my collection.
Sylvia
Began silk painting more than 20 years ago, learning basic skills with Tony Wigg (Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute and Hampstead School of Art, London) and later new techniques with Ellen Bakker in the Netherlands. Both tutors - with their enthusiasm for the infinite potential and creativity of silk painting - encouraged her to develop her own style for silk and fabric design.
Using her experience of digitizing manuscripts in libraries and archives, the original hand-painted designs are scanned and re-worked to offer an exciting range for fashion and interiors.
